My Norton AV picked up this virus about a week ago. I can't seem to get rid of it permanently. Can't seem to locate the file that it is attacking. Please help!

I tried the disable thing, it worked for a day and now the virus is back. I have the Spybot Search and Destroy, Ad-Watch/Ad-Aware 2007 & Hijackthis downloaded. Would these be helpful in the removal?

Since you apparently have Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware, and HijackThis (hopefully not the beta version) you already have a good start.

Please carefully follow the instructions in the following link,
and follow up here with information about what you did and what you found.

While you wait for further expert assistance before proceeding with further malware removal, here's some info about items I suspect so you might better understand some of what you're now dealing with.

1. Turn OFF system restore.
2. reboot in Safe Mode:
tap F8 key until get boot menu
use up arrow to select Safe Mode (note: NO NETWORKING!)
3. run HijackThis
4. use HijackThis to Fix the following:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mppds] C:\WINDOWS\mppds.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MsIMMs32] C:\WINDOWS\MsIMMs32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSMSGS] "C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe" /background

O10 - Broken Internet access because of LSP provider 'ypclsp.dll' missing

next, delete all temporary files like so:

Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup
Select hard drive C:/
Put a check in Recycle Bin, Temporary files., Temporary Internet files.
Press OK button & then the Yes button.
Be patient while they get removed.

Reboot to safe mode again and scan entire comp with antivirus.
Scan with all antispyware apps too.
