Computer Experience: Where's the any key?
Hi and welcome
Your internet in general acting wonky as well?
Your LSP (layered Service Providers) are corrupted as result of improperly uninstalled "Pure Insight Content Monitor".
The dll was deleted but registry entries for it was not.
Also have DNSChanger trojan.
This adds malware DNS Server entries so instead of you getting http requests from your ISP you get them from malware domail.
Normally just end up with junky search engine pages.
Let's try & get both issues.
Download and save http://www.cexx.org/LSPFix.exe
Double click LSPFix.exe
winsflt.dll should be listed at right.
You just need to click the finish button and reboot.
Don't move any other files listed!
Once restarted.....
You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.
Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe
Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
If Shaw-Secure asks about "download.exe" needing internet access. Allow it.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
When your system reboots, follow the prompts.
Start Hijackthis
Run system scan and check:
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{24872FAE-9D27-48F5-BA37-94D803022911}: NameServer = 85.255.114.110,85.255.112.170
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{3813FD82-CCB0-4859-BE1D-81D44E66454B}: NameServer = 85.255.114.110,85.255.112.170
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{4A8BAE34-F224-4055-8EEC-05D36547E0D9}: NameServer = 85.255.114.110,85.255.112.170
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.110 85.255.112.170
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 85.255.114.110 85.255.112.170
Close ALL open windows except Hijackthis and click "fix checked"
Exit Hijackthis.
Click Start > Connect to > Show all connections.
Right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl.
Left click on Properties.
Click the Networking tab.
Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP /IP ) item and select the radio dial that says "Obtain DNS servers automatically".
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks. (That option might not be available on some systems).
Next:
Click Start > Run type cmd and hit OK.
Type ipconfig /flushdns then hit enter, (Note: there is a space between ipconfig and /flushdns).
Type exit hit enter
Open the your root folder (usualy c) c:\fixwareout\report.txt and
post it in reply here along with a new hijackthis log.
Let me know how things are running.
Thanks

Computer Experience: Where's the any key?
Hi,
Logs look good.
You can delete FixWareout.exe and LSPFix.exe.
Please also do the following:
After a fresh reboot (in case some software has to finish updates) click start> run> type cleanmgr and hit enter.
Cleaning drive c:\...
Have checked ONLY:
Temporary files
Temporary Internet files
Recycle bin
Hit OK to clean up.
Once done....I want to double check with online scan we don't have something else dormant laying around.
Using Internet Explorer please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner
Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes . The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next .
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected: Scan using the following Anti-Virus database: Extended (If available otherwise Standard)
Scan Options: Scan Archives
Scan Mail Bases
Click OK
Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save report button.
Call it Kaspersky.txt
Expand the arrow beside "file types" and save as .txt file.
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.
*Note
It is recommended to disable onboard antivirus program and antispyware programs while performing scans so no conflicts and to speed up scan time.
Please don't go surfing while your resident protection is disabled!
Once scan is finished remember to re-enable resident antivirus protection along with whatever antispyware app you use.
*Note2
If you have Internet Explorer 7 installed:
If you have trouble getting past the initial download you may need to use the "zoom" tool at bottom right of the scanner window and increase it to 125% to see and press the "accept" button.
Page will reload and you should be able to carry on scan.
thanks
