Every once in a while, Windows Explorer will crash and when I get to task manager, it shows (Sysfader) not responding and any folder I have open as not responding also.

As soon as I end SysFader, my computer unfreezes.

How can I disable SysFader or how can I stop the problem?

    Wondering why

I do not have NVidia Graphics Utility.

    I have ATI

To get rid of this problem all you need to do is this:
Press Windows Flag (Windows Key) + Pause break key. If you don't have the Windows key (most keyboards should have this - right beside the Alt key) just right click on My Computer and click Properties.
    Go to the 'Advanced' tab
    Under 'Performance' click on 'Settings'
Under the 'Visual Effects' tab uncheck the first four check boxes
These 4 boxes are "Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing ", "Fade or slide menus into view ", "Fade of slide ToolTips into view" and "Fade out menu items after clicking ". Please note that if you are running other localizations of Windows XP (for example Windows XP Portugese) you have to find the options that somewhat describe the options mentioned above, since they might not be the first 4 options.

I did that, although: if I go back into the settings they are checked again automatically

    So many

So many **** threads, confusing, they all say pretty much the same thing.

And when was the last time I posted a hjt log?? I doubt I would really have spyware or a virus. I am running Spybot anyway

Of course, type sysfader crash into google and several come up but I would like stay with support from this thread because I looked at many of the others.

Spybot will not find, nor protect against viruses :)

I suggest you run an online virus scan - access through Quicklinks in my signature and if that comes up clean try AVG AntiSpyware trial.

Feel free to post an HJT log - use the link to v1.99.1 in Quicklinks in my signature, not the beta version at Trend Micro.

    Wondering

Earlier today, SysFader crashed again and I ended SysFader. I did not restart computer so if it was something that ran in backround, I am not sure if it would or would not be in hjt log

Well, if you can't see my signature alongside the MVP logo you clearly need more carrots - your signature says you like 'em :D

Why did you not do the online scans? - we are trying to help and it helps us to help you if you comply with our requests.

I have moved this thread to the Removing Spyware & Viruses forum with title edit.

Looking at your signature it would not surprise me if the Vista Transformation Pack were not involved here.

Please report which scan(s) you ran and if anything was found - our Security guys will need to know.

Well well well, looks like I did have a trojan

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    AVG Anti-Spyware - Scan Report
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    + Created at: 11:54:22 PM 6/9/2007

    + Scan result:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Jordy\Local Settings\Temp\win2F.tmp.exe -> Trojan.Agent.qt : Cleaned with backup (quarantined).

    ::Report end

    ___________________________________________________________________

While scanning, NAV Corporate Tamper Protection kept recognizing AVG as dangerous so I mustd disable tamper protection.

    Hi, sniper. :)

While you're waiting for expert malware removal guidance, please move HijackThis.exe (HJT) into a folder on your hard drive (such as C:\HJT\) instead of your desktop. Then run HJT again from that location and post a fresh log.

HJT reportedly must be in a new folder on your hard drive so it can create backups of its changes that you can restore in case things go awry with using HJT to fix items.

CAUTION: DO NOT have HijackThis "fix" anything without carefully following expert guidance. Otherwise, you might render your computer unstable or even unbootable.

It seems you never followed up on your previous HJT post.

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=64724

By now, ms1033, you should know the procedure for keeping your PC clean after all of the HJT logs you have posted in the past several years here, G4TechTV, TechTV and other boards.

Even though I never really followed up on my previous thread

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=64724

Whiskeymany has pointed out that I still have reminants of aim crapware on my system, I am now using aim 6.2 but any

gets to confusing running 2 threads at the same time so I think we shall stick with the latest and if an expert sees reminants of aim, then we take care of it.

I can become paranoid but not always
