I'm working on a friend's PC who is complaining about it freezing up all the time. They said it was working fine, then they installed IE7 and they had problems with it freezing and web pages not loading so they uninstalled it via add/remove programs. Since then, it freezes all the time no matter what application they use.
When I got it, I tried to start AVG and it would not open. I tried to start task manager also and it would not open. The PC then froze on me. It seems to not run in normal mode for more than a couple minutes before freezing.
I booted into safe mode and ran Spybot, Adaware and AVG and all ran clean. I'm posting a HJT log to see if there is any malware that needs to be removed before looking elsewhere for the problem. This log was created in safe mode as normal mode doesn't last long enough to get a log.

They told me they tried system restore and tried to pick a restore point prior to when they installed IE7 and it wouldn't let them use that restore point. I haven't tried it yet myself, that was my next step if the HJT log was clean. I will fix that one line you mentioned tonight and try the system restore and see what happens for me. Thanks for checking the log for me.
It looks like the system restore fixed the problem. I had to use safe mode command prompt to invoke it, I couldn't get it to stay up long enough in normal mode. Thanks again for checking the log for me, figured it was best to eliminate possible malware first, then look beyond that if necessary.
