pop-ups, DMVlite -- how to eliminate?

Hi, I was wondering if someoen could help me remove this DMVlite bug. Also I keep getting pop-ups from sites advertising spyware busters, or other various sites even when internet explorer is closed.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!
JP

Hello

Can you delete the wintools folder ?
C:\Program Files\Common Files\WinTools

Download, Install and protect again all with SpywareBlaster (By JavaCool): http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Open this folder
C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files
Right click on anything that is suspious choose remove in the contec menu
its perfectly safe to remove even the good items as they get install when you revisit a web site that requires them in seconds.
=========================
Download Find-qoologic.zip from here
http://forums.skads.org/index.php?showtopic=89

Unzip (IT must be unzipped/extracted, if any questions ask first)the the files open the qoologic folder, Then run qoologic.bat from there wait for it to finish. it will take awhile, wait untill the dos box disapears and disk activity stops, a text will open, post that back here please.

Post a new hijackthis log, but first >
In MSConfig re-enable anything you have disabled from starting with windows,
dont yet restart the PC
Quote:
Your running Hijackthis from a temp and it still hasnt been unzipped, neither is a good idea.
Create a new folder, for instance C:\AntiSpyware
Download the exe from here to that new folder.
http://www.merijn.org/files/HijackThis.exe
This is necessary to ensure you have backups should anything go wrong

Hi

Were you able to delete the wintools folder ?

Please copy this to a text for referance
  1. [1] Download Pocket Killbox.version 2.0.0.76
If you already have Killbox ensure its this version
[2] Unzip the contents of KillBox.zip to a convenient location.
[3] Close all Browsers and programs that show in the windows taskbar
    [4] Double-click on KillBox.exe.
    [5] Click "Delete on Reboot"
[6] Copy/Paste (not type or browse) this file into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.

    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\kgpfuh.exe

[7] Click the "Delete File" button which looks like a stop sign.
[8] Click "Yes" at the Replace on Reboot prompt.
[9] Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
[10] Repeat steps 5-9 above for these files one at a time.

Wow, thanks.

I was able to delete the WinTools folder. I followed the other isntructions (at least, I'm sure I did everything), and was able to eliminate a lot of those pesky nasties. However, I'm still getting pop-ups through internet explorer, mostly from that blasted 1-888 Casino site.

Here's the new HiJackThis log:

Another note

It appears that vmss and wsxsvc.exe have reloaded themselves. When I sent them to the recycle bin, Windows said that the bin was empty, and it would not empty the recycle bin. Could this effect my ability to clean out these programs?

Find It NT-2K-XP scan

Okay, I ran the Find It NT-2K-XP program. Shellfilter.vbs would not open or run for some reason. Here's the Find It NT-2K-XP log:

Lets use another tool for this thing
delet findit and the findit zip to.

Im about done for the day so wait for about or ten to 18 hours from now then make the log and post it, is that OK ?
Or if you can do it right now woud be fine.
also limit your internet time as much as possible.

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:
(version 1.02 as of 1/21/2005)
http://www.atribune.org/downloads/l2mfix.exe
http://www.downloads.subratam.org/l2mfix.exe

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Once posted do not restart your pc untill suggested

Note to others, do not use this tool without assistance, the infection is always slightly differant.

Hello

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread,

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
*******************************************************
Also:
In a new reply to the same thread
Download Find-qoologic.zip from here
http://forums.skads.org/index.php?showtopic=89

Unzip the the files open the qoologic folder, Then run qoologic.bat from there wait for it to finish.
It will take awhile, wait untill the dos box disapears and disk activity stops a text will open, post that back here please along with a new hijackthis log.
