While scanning my hard drive with Kaspersky antivirus it said it found two files: sbrecovery.ini and sbrecovery.reg that it could not scan because they were password protected. The scan would not continue until I supplied the password. I have no clue what password it's talking about. Im logged on as administrator and use no password on my home pc. I was unable to find these files doing a normal search. Thinking they might be masquerading as hidden system files, I attempted to change my folder settings by changing the option to "Show all hidden files and folders" When I went there to make that change (control panel/folder options/view I noted that that radio button was NOT there! It was completely missing as an option. Where could it have gone and how do I get it back, is the first thing. Secondly, does anyone have any idea what the sbrecovery.* files may be? What Im experiencing is an exreeeeeeemly slow computer after several minutes of use after bootup. It gets slower and slower the longer I use it until I need to reboot. CPU usage at this point never budges from 100%. Thanks for any suggestions.

Its normal for antiirus and antispyware programs to find password protected zip/cabs.
What has happend is another antivirus/antispyware program has removed a bad guy and backed it up.
SO where at exactly where the files located ?

PS with Kav you should choose the option to ignore the passworded zips's
About folder options view tab, what operating system is it you have ?
Ive just bought windows XP professional upgrade and will ultimately upgrade to that. Is it best to wipe out everything on my HD and do a reformat to make sure Im starting squeeky clean or would it be safe to use the windows xp wizard that saves current system settings and transfers them to the new operating system? I want to keep things as clean as possible and not transfer any trojans or viruses or other bad stuff but at the same time want to make things as smooth as possible and dont relish the thought of trying to reconfigure everything such as printer and network etc etc.
With a likely infection of your machine, I'd opt for the clean install also, not only the format but fdisk and delete and remake the partition(s) too. That rewrites everythibg on the disk, even system areas that can hide trojans and are not changed when you just format..
Clean install gets my vote based on the problems you have. Couple days of work to set things back up like you want but a known clean system. Otherwise I suspect you'd want to name your Transfer Wizard "Saruman".
Note - make sure you have XP SP2 on CD so you can load it before every trying to get on the internet to complete your installs and update stuff. Otherwise you are very likely to get hit by Blaster or Sasser or similar before you can do much of anything. SP2 security blocks those particular critters and quite a few other bad things.
