Angry

initializing ndis windows protection error

Hello All, I am hoping that someone can help me.
My problem is that I receive this error when I installed windows 98 on my HP pavilion A335W after a virus locked me down.

I searched the posts to see if anyone had had this problem before and found Zander had posted "MS has a hotfix available for this but you need to call them to get it...

Unfortunately, I cant find the fix and the post is too old to reply. (2005). I spent hours talking with MS and they no longer support windows 98. They are suggesting I go back to XP which is a problem because I no longer have the CD or the recovery disks.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Thanks Markp62. I found that fix did not work because I could not do the download on the affected computer but someone else told me to delete my network adapter and that worked. I am not sure what the long term effects will be though.
