How to: my screen keeps scrolling up and down?

    How do I keep my monitor screen from scrolling up and down on its own. I can even be typing and the screen does its own scrolling up. What make it do this? I have win98se

    i need help with my monitor

    I guess you all think i'm nuts but my screen goes through this mode of scrolling up and down while i am on the comp. whether i am on or offline. Does anyone know what causes this?:confused:

    It may be the mouse. If it is an optical mouse and you are using it on a shiny surface try putting it on a matt surface.

    You can uninstall/remove the drivers for the mouse in Device Manager, they will be automatically reinstalled when you reboot.

    Borrow another mouse to try.

    Thank you Matt. Yes it was the mouse. We took it apart and found a loose saudering (sp) piece. It made a connection and then released and went haywire. I had another one on hand and I am happy now. THANK YOU FOR POSTING A REPLY. HAGD!:)
