    Hello,
I've been a Win98 user for some time. I have a one gegahertz Dell that is just over three years old. My problem, more annoying than anything else, is that my monitor will stay on forever after each start up unless I go to the control panel and reset the value. I set it to shut off after 10 minutes then click on apply then Okay...Okay and it will work until I shut it down. When I start it back up. The values I set are gone and I have to reset them. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi valpojim, I do not know what is wrong with your Power Down Monitor
settings. Or how to make them permanent. Are there any utilities you can
use for the monitor that came with it ?
Also, why try to make it sleep ? A three year old monitor would probably be
happier "On" all the time instead off "Off -On" thus giving it more work.
    regards

I don't think it did...butt I will check. Hmmm? Never thought "on" would be better than "off "?

I agree with Merlin. Turning the monitor on and off is hard on it. Its the same as turning a TV on and off many times a day. The parts warm up and expand, then cool off and contract over and over.

Generally, it's better to leave it on unless it's going to be off for several hours (like overnight). Use the "Blank" screen saver if seeing it on bothers you. ;)
