    Hi there :)

For a while now, every time i open up a web page or a word document (or anything that enables scrolling down a page), the page automatically scrolls up and down, and i can't click the link i want, or see what im typing, etc. Also, sometimes when I am writing an email, the page will automatically go forward or back (usually when i use the shift key!) I have done virus checks but nothing has been found.
I had this problem for a few months and then it went, but now is back again. Would anybody happen to know what is causing this? It's soooooooo frustrating! Any help you could give me would be much appreciated!

    thanx!! :)

Try cleaning your mouse, or swap it with another. Maybe the microswitch on the scroll is sticky.

    Best

I suppose this isn't something as simple as the mouse "wheel tab" option settings being set to a high number for scrolling or perhaps you've engaged your wheel mouse's autoscroll function, if it has one. For example I know if I click on the wheel (I do get a small symbol letting me know I've engaged autoscroll, you may not or if you do you have not noticed) I can scroll through a page quickly up or down just by moving my mouse up or down versus moving the wheel. While in autoscroll mode I can not click on links. I have to, once again click on the wheel to disengage autoscroll.

I hope this makes sence. I feel like I'm blathering but once started I couldn't stop.... :)

    Hi

Goddez1 makes a very good point here my mouse is the same as she has explained to you, I think it might be worth checking as well as cleaning your mouse ( good practice no matter what). Allthough I have a optical mouse (no ball) and mine just needs a quick wipe once in a while for cleaning. ;)

My auto scroll symbol looks like this... you might look around on your desk top or on the page your viewing when this happens again. I am sure not all will look the same but close i would imagine.

    Regards,
