Hopefully, you have nothing important in it.

Go to Add/Remove and Windows setup. Remove the briefcase, restart, and reinstall it.

If you have something in it, try accessing it in Explorer.

If you haven't solved this yet----

I was referring to going to Add/Remove in Control Panel. Click on the Windows Setup tab. Look under "Accessories ", I think, and find Briefcase. Uncheck the box and Apply. This should uninstall Briefcase.

Then recheck the box, Apply again, and reinstall.

Abraxas, sorry for the confusion, but my query on the restoring of the Briefcase was with reference to WIN ME.

    Can you follow-up on this??

    Thanks.

In Windows 98, Briefcase isn't on the Add/Remove list...so I assume it's the same in Windows ME.

If that is the case, uninstalling Briefcase is done by dragging the Briefcase icon to the recycle bin. Of course, that also means you lose all the data in Briefcase at the time.

To re-install, right click on an empty space on the Desktop, hover the cursor over "New" and click on "Briefcase. "

Are you positive about this? Just last week I saw an option to change my briefcase to a metallic one in ME. Since I didn't have it installed, I went to Windows setup and added it under "Accessories ", unless I'm really losing it  .

Can someone else weigh in on this? All I have is ME and XP  .

Does that mean I lost it? I'll just have to check the next time I see that machine  .

Positive about this? Heck no. I haven't been positive about anything since the last time I was positive I was wrong. I was wrong that time, too. :D
