    HI,

I am not sure if it is due to my service pack download but I think so. I am having problems with IE 6 when I try and open some pages IE freezes up on me. It appears to be .asp pages and some multimedia pages. Has anyone else experienced this with the new service pack download?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    -Z

    FYI

I forgot about the repair option with IE. Anyhow I had IE repair itself and I am back in business. Who knows what happend, something I downloaded must have corrupted IE.

    Thanks for your help!

I am having the same problem, I think.

I am using IE 6 on a 700 MHz P3 with 256 Mb of ram. There are pages I go to regularly which now bring up the Cannot Find Server error. The pages where this happens seem to have filenames with .asp or .jsp extensions. I have tried the Internet Explorer repair option, but I am still having the problem.
Does anyone else have any idea what is happening here?

One thing that will do this (usually the result of bad activity by one of a number of trojans or bits of malware) is to put entries into a hosts file that point a site to the wrong place.

Open your hosts file in notepad and look around. If you see lots of entries like

    127.0.0.1 someplace.com
    127.0.0.2 someotherplace.net

you will never be able to reach those sites. If this has happened to you, post back for a cure.
