I don't like bing as a search engine. I want to get rid of it and go back to google. I have found lots of advice on the internet, but perhaps none of it is related to Windows 7 or my ( latest ? ) version of IE - since the things I am told to do just can't be done. Who can rid me of this pestilent thing ?

It is at the top right hand corner of the browser - next to the address bar.
If I go to Tools/internet options - I have google set as my home page, but google doesn't appear anywhere when I actually open IE. , and I have to go to favourites to find it - every time.
I do find that google gives me much better answers to my questions !

OK..Now I see said the blind man...Do you see a DROP DOWN arrow at the far right of the search field? If you click that - do you see the option to select Google?

Click on Tools > Manage Add-ons > Search Providers and remove Bing and add Google if not listed.

Thanks Chaps - I followed tmarks instructions ( 'cos he was the first) and after a few failures - because i was too stupid to read the second column as well the first - I got there. I think... crossed fingers, anyway.

    Thanks all

    Me either

I don't like anything attached to IE though, I try to keep it as clean as possible.

In future (other than just doing the above) just run IE Reset Fixit Tool: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9646978

Then restart Internet Explorer, go through custom setup (of which I usually disable everything)
Then you're off and away :) Oh I also place http://www.google.com/ncr as my homepage ;)
