Contents tab reveals Contents Adviser with 'Enable' highlighted, Settings is not highlighted and does not respond, therefore Iam unable to get to'Feeds' to uncheck automaticaly update.

The 'Internet Options' Icon on the PC that has the fault is a Globe with a single tick, it does not have the Globe with 3 Ticks. This PC that I am using to communicate with you does not have the msfeedssync.exe problem and has an Icon for Internet Options with 3 ticks on a pad and does open a window as per the image. That screenshot was from IE 8 on Windows 7 - I shall have to fire up my netbook -- the only computer remaining with XP loaded to see what you refer to.

In the meantime which version of IE on the recalcitrant computer? I only have IE 8.

The 'recalcitrant' ( I have other words ) computer has IE5 I believe, 'system information' will not show on screen.( The computer was a young man's first S/H Pc and had some strange hardware, and a lot of lights, part home made. Not sure how far I will go with this, may decide to convert it into a light show with music.

If it's in fact running IE 5 then RSS feeds were not around then - to check Help > About in IE.

I would suspect a later version given that you see the message re. msfeedssynch.exe.

Another approch wouls be to go into Scheduled Tasks, show hidden Tasks and delete the schedule, if it exists.

BTW - which OS is it running?
