When I want to add a web site to my favorites folder, click add to favorites, goto create in, click down bar and here you select where you want to save the web site. I have noticed that the folders are not listed in alphabetical order and I do believe at one time they was. When you just click on favorites, the folders are listed in alphabetical order but not when you wish to add a web site. Is there a way to get this list back in alphabetical order? I am running XP Pro and IE7.

    Favorites not in order

Thats not it, that area was listed in alphabetical order. Its when you want to add a website to the favorites, those folders are not in alphabetical order. Like main folders might be listed as Money, Government, AT&T, should be listed as AT&T, Government, Money and so on.

I think you'll find that right-clicking any item on the Favorites list (as displayed in the browser) and selecting "Sort By Name" will get you the view setting you want.

BTW, that applies to any files within subfolders of the Favorites. Just open any folder and right-click any item inside and select "Sort By Name. "

FYI, I don't normally want my Links folder sorted by name so I arrange it the way I want by dragging and dropping the icons. Then I make a backup of that order (reg key backup) so I can restore it if needed. That may be TMI but I thought I'd pass it along in case anyone was interested.

    Favorites not in order

I guess I am not explaining it right or something. You cannot move or select anything except where you want to place the website that you are trying to add to a certain folder.
    1. Click favorites
    2. Click add to favorites
    3. You are now to a box that says add a favorite,by the create in, click on the down arrow, just right of the space that names the folder.
    4. This is the list/folders that are not in alphabetical order and I am sure that they was at one time and I would like to get them back in order.

Everything said so far deals only click on favorites and then you can do everything that was said so far.

The advice I gave earlier was valid for IE7 & IE8. If you are running an earlier version, the procedure is slightly different. Click Favorites on the Top Toolbar rather than the one on the Lower position. The toolbar I'm talking about is the one that lists File Edit View Favorites Tools Help. Then right-click any item and you should see the option to "Sort By Name." That option will not exist when opening Favorites by any other means.

    Illustration of that Procedure.

    Another illustration of the same.

Joe - I actually see what you're saying now. Mine are in alpha order just like when I view them in Win Explorer-> C:\Documents and Settings\Steve\Favorites

Do some of the folder names start with numeric characters? I think you'd have to rename them in Win Explorer to get them to change their order.

Thanks Joe T for the question and the responses from Surferdude2 and Steve R Jones. Now, I, too, have an organized Favorite's listing.

    Just open IE and then

Open the Favorites, right click on one of them and (I prefer) click on Sort by Name, or whatever you wish.

Excuses if anybody else suggested this.:)
