[Constant clicking sound online - pages try to open independently but fail]
This is hard to explain but ill try because I have no idea whats going on.
When im online there is a constant clicking like when you double click something with your mouse.
The top tab will quickly show the round 'thinking' icon and the bottom bar will briefly show something as if its downloading a page and then show 'Done'.
This happens all the time, consistantly.
Please help me !!!
I have Vista if that would help any with troubleshooting.

I suspect malware, so please read this and post the logs requested in a new thread in the Malware & Virus Removal forum. Include a copy of your post above before the logs.
Pete has a valid point but you know what first came to my mind when I read this? I know there are a few web pages that I have visited in the past that had an advertisement somewhere on the the page that was controlled by flash, I think,... anyway each time the ad changed with a refresh it would make a clicking sound and of course the status bar at the bottom would reflect the new server downloading, changing and controlling that ad. Could this be a possibility?
Please take Pete's concern into consideration. I certainly don't mean to usurp this post. The net is full of buggers that can nab you in an instant, but I thought I'd just mention this in passing.
Hi,
It indeed could be a flash issue. However you could also check your Pop up blocker settings.
There could also be malware problem with some sites. You Know!
I didn't mean to imply that this was an actual flash problem, although that could be possible. The type of clicking I was referring to would be expected and normal under the circumstances I was suggesting may be the cause of the clicking sound.
I was referring to those sites that still use a coded, timed refresh, whether it be the page or some element on the page, such as a news or stock ticker, advertisement that rotates the ads shown within, a live chat component, etc etc. I know many or most sites don't do this anymore because of various issues, sound "click" feedback being the smallest of the possible nuisances. I think the main reason this was stopped was because of history corruption or ie "back button" issues. This is neither here nor there....
The only thing I was trying to point out was that the site (page), maybe using a component with a timed refresh and if so the clicking sound would not be considered abnormal or would be expected. Much the same as the clicking sound would be when you use the refresh icon on IE's toolbar.
---------------------------
Didn't mean any harm by using my own personal experience, on the rare occasion, when I find myself sitting on a site long enough, to experience just such a refresh with the clicking sound feedback. I only meant to offer another possible reason for the issue. I could still be way off the mark in any case so I will wait for the results of the newly posted "malware forum" post awaiting an expert members opinion, verdict and findings.

imjhemp,
Would you care to share the url you use that is displaying the cause for your concern?
goddez, to clarify my problem....the clicking is as if I hit the 'refresh' button. The 'clicking' sound isnt just a clicking sound (IMO) because of the 'thinking icon' and the activity going on.
......actually, this happens all the time, all sites including this one. ALL THE TIME. lol
To just explain a little more of the problem.....on this site where the titles to threads are, I put the 'pointer' on a title and it shows the first few senteces of the post and then goes away in a few seconds. The 'clicking' goes off and then the box reappears to show the first few sentences again.....over & over & over & over & .....you get the idea.
So what im saying is......It's not just a 'sound' of a clicking, something is happening like a refresh or something. I dont know what.
Pete, I did what you suggested from the start. I posted the 'Hijackthis' logs in the Malware & Virus Removal Forum and am awaiting a response with some more opinions on what they see.
I am gonna go try what you suggested with Flash & the Pop-Up Blocker though just to see if this helps.
Thank you so much already for throwing your ideas out for me. Ill reply back with findings.
Good Idea !!
However I would like to add that it could be the active x running scripts on your page.
Check that through your internet settings.
Which IE version do you use ?
