I went searching for a game crack (naughty me) and was, unknowingly, directed to a **** site. At this site, still not knowing it was a **** site, I clicked on what I thought was the link to the game crack. Suddenly the site starts downloading all sorts of **** images etc. I clicked stop and then spent the next ten minutes deleting everything I thought had been downloaded. The problem is that everytime I go to a web site that doesn't exist (normally I have typed the wrong address), IE defaults back to the **** site. I have deleted all cookies, URL addresses and searched for files with the **** site included as part of the file name. I found a dll file and deleted it.

How can I stop this happening? I am not game to let the children use the computer whilst this is happening. Your advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    You could try

Tools>Internet Options>Programs and then select 'Reset Web Settings'.

This will restore your Home and Search pages to the default Microsoft based ones. Once that's done you can go back and reset your home page.

    Cheers,

    Gary

Along with markp62's excellent link, you might want to also download and run ad-aware?

Thanks Daizy. I downloaded ad-aware and it found 32 files (hidden everywhere) belonging to the **** site. I deleted them all and the problem is fixed. Again thanks for the help.
