IE8 beta 2 problems ["read mail" it does not bring up MS Outlook]
IE8 on XP, SP3 seems to run okay but I have one issue that is puzzling; when I click on "read mail" it does not bring up MS Outlook (2003). Will wait for an update I assume will come soon. It also runs okay on my Vista SP1 but got hung up after closing a protected page and my ID popped up from Norton's. Could not change pages after that.

IE 8 is still buggy and induces a few strange occurrences. Many on the Board use it with no reporteds problems, others, my self included are steering well clear of it for now. It is beta software and not for use on a 'mission critical' computer
That said I have edited your thread title to reflect the problem with Outlook.
It works good on Vista. Everything else on the Toolbar works okay except "read mail" just doesn't do anything. I will experiment a little and if I find a solution will post it here. It must be some setting that didn't transfer over from IE7.
Coincidentally I upgraded to IE 8 yesterday and so far have not run into any issues - Read Mail instantly opens Outlook Express which I use exclusively.
I guess you have checked Tools > Internet Options > Programs > Email - is Outlook selected from the dropdown list?

Yes. All other toolbar icons/functions work properly, except "read mail" just does nothing. It's like there is no link at all. It works okay on my Vista machine but not on both XP machines I have.
Will just wit for the text beta or final version. Getting help wioth MS probems on the Net is like trying to kiss my own elbow -- just ain't going to happen.
