I am running IE7 on Vista. Almost all of the time when I hit the back button it takes me to the top of the previous page. For example I am scrolling down a page on Ebay and click on an item that is in the middle or lower section of the page. After finishing on the items page I click the back button but it will almost always return to the top of the page and I have to scroll back down to find where I was. This has become annoying.

    jpr28056 - Welcome to the Board :)

The behaviour you experience is not as it should be - I cannot reproduce it in IE7/XP Pro on eBay.

I am not a Vista user, but have not seen mention of this before so have no idea if this problem is Vista specific.

Do you keep your temporary internet files cleared out? .....

Tools > Internet options > Advanced and scroll down to 'empty temporary internet files when browser is closed'.

It may be that an add-on is causing this problem - disable them all through Tools > Manage Add-ons and test. If the problem is resolved re-enable one by one testing each time until the culprit is found.

I had all my add ons dis-abled and keep my cache clean. I did see one mention of this same issue on a cnet forum. That person solved his problem by updating his mouse drivers. (he had an external mouse) I am using a laptop with a touch pad and did check to see if there were any updated drivers for anything but this computer is only 6 weeks old. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Try removing the touchpad through Devive Manager and rebooting to allow Windows to redetect.

If possible try an external mouse.
