    I recently upgraded from IE6 to IE7.

Sometimes when I'm typing, I notice that the font is not proportional (different spacing between letters).

It doesn't happen everywhere but is very noticeable when it does.

Is there a setting somewhere that will fix this?

    thanks

Can you post a link to an example?
    It could be the site....

Might click on View->Encoding and make sure you're set to Western (ISO)

    Steve,

    My settings on Encoding:

    Auto Select
    Unicode(UTF-8)
    Left-To-Right document

Please clarify what to check or uncheck.

Proportional spacing between letters is called "kerning." It's likely the pages you're seeing this on are using a font that has kerning built in.

There's plenty more about kerning on this page.
