Exclamation IE7 Homepage keeps reverting back to MSN.COM

Starting this morning, whenever I go to the internet options to change my homepage to www.cnn.com, the next time I open IE7 i get

http://www.microsoft.com/isapi/redir...er=6.0&ar=home

which redirects to msn.com. This is a new laptop and I havent done much web browsing or email opening on it.

I have tried scanning with Norton Internet Security & Spybot SD, but so far nothing has been detected. Please help! I hate knowing something MS related is taking over my computer even more.

Thanks!

Your Norton Security Suite is preventing you from making a persistent change to the settings for your Home page.

And good luck with Vongo, I consider it junk and a problem. Particularly for HP systems were it is preinstalled, as it often cannot be removed:
Quote:
Richard Brownrigg, executive in charge of software at Vongo, said that most people can get rid of the software by starting the computer in Safe Mode, holding down the F8 key at bootup, and then using the Add or Remove Programs. But, he acknowledged, with some HP models, even starting in Safe Mode to do the removal won't work.

But I had successfully changed my home page until this morning it switched back. I tried looking for a setting in Norton that would allow me to change it to what I want, but I could not find it. Any suggestions?

The Vongo is something that DID come preinstalled on my HP, I just havent gotten to removing it. Thanks for the advice on that. Now if I could just figure out this homepage things...

Open your Norton Internet Security, click on options at the top, then click Norton Anti-Virus. Look on the left side with the 3 columns. Under the Internet section at the bottom is Home Page protection. uncheck the box at the top.

Also, you have SpyBot Search and Destroy Tea Timer running. That will block a homepage change as well. If you check "Remember this decision" in TeaTimer on a change the information concerning that change it is stored in a file. TeaTimer uses that information to automatically "Allow" or "Deny" changes. It seems that you may have checked "Remember this decision" and "Deny change" on the change.

Thumbs up Thank you!

It WAS the Norton & NOT the Spybot. I had remembered seeing the option to lock the home page in Norton, I just couldnt find it again. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. It is now the home page of my choosing.

Thanks!!
