I have a friend with the following "weird" XP/OE problem...he uses elements of XP that I don't (multiple user accounts, OE), so I'm only marginally helpful. He has two user accounts, himself (Joe) as admin, and his wife (Ann) as a 2nd user with admin privileges. They both use OE for Email. Joe directs his Email (Joe@abc.com) to his account, and Ann's Email (Ann@abc.com) to her account.

Joe switched over to DSL (same ISP, no change in email addresses), but then when he tried to open OE, all he got was that blue bar at the top of the screen and the task bar at the bottom, but that's all..... his ISP (abc.com) decided that OE was the problem, apparently getting corrupted somehow during the switch to DSL, and suggested he try Incredimail (Aaaaagh!) so he could receive Email. That worked, but was cantankerous, so he uninstalled Incredimail, leaving him with the original problem....he can't use OE. [Thus the Incredimail incident may be irrelevant in all this]

I suggested he try using Ann's account, and lo and behold, that works fine....his user account is unusable, but hers is not. Ann can send and receive Email normally with OE (opened from the Start menu), but he can't get OE to open (other than the two bars) under his user name.

So are user account settings ******* up somehow, or has OE been corrupted? Why can Ann use OE and he can't if it's corrupted? Or what user setting could be messed up? Any ideas? Thanks...

Pete....thanks, we'll try those later today. Strange problem, isn't it? I really suspect something in the user accounts, otherwise why should OE work for Ann but not Joe?
