Hi,
My friend uses Outlook Express as his email program. Awhile back he complained that some of his friends mail was going directly in the deleted items folder but that he didn't block them. So we looked in the Blocked items list and the names were there being blocked. We removed them from the bocked senders list so nothing was being blocked.
Well, some of the mail still goes into the deleted items folder and not delivered to the inbox. Some of the messages from the same person are delivered to the inbox but then other mail from that person is being put in the deleted items folder.
Could he have some setting that is directing the messages to the deleted items folder? We haven't figured it out yet. We did look in Option, Security, and unchecked "block images and other external content in e'mail" but am not sure if this is the problem or not.
Any help to correct this problem will be appreciated.
Jean
Didn't find the information you thought to find? Check out these Similar Threads
In OE make a new folder and drag the present contents of the Inbox into it.
Then search the hard drive for *.dbx files or in OE go to Tools > Options > Maintenance tab > Store Folder > Change and the existing location will be shown. (Afraid I can't tell you the path offhand as my Store folder is on another drive which is backed up hourly).
Navigate in Windows Explorer to that location - may need to have Show Hidden Files and Folders enabled and - with OE closed - delete Inbox.dbx. It will be recreated the next time OE is opened. Then drag the files from the new folder into the Inbox and delete the new folder.
If this does not solve the problem post back - there is a thread relating to this on the Board somewhere and I will then try to find it.
Jean, you should also check under Tools>Message Rules>Mail>Mail Rules to see if there have been any rules set up that include the e-mail addy's or other conditions that will cause the e-mail's to be sent to the deleted folder.
John, we already did check the Mail, Message Rules, and there is nothing in the box to move the mail.
Pete, I will try to instruct my friend how to do what you suggested. If he can't follow the instructions, I'll have to visit him again and it won't be for a week or so.
My friend sent me an email saying that he hasn't had the problem since we changed the setting in Option, Security, and unchecked "block images and other external content in e'mail".
Maybe this did the trick, who knows? If it does return we'll assume it is a corrupted inbox fle and follow the instructions sent previously.
