IE6 completely quit working

I have a weird problem. Suddenly I cannot use IE6...my desktop changed to a solid blue color and everytime I save something to my desktop it save it twice.
At the time this happened I was not even using IE6 but Avant browser and it no longer works either. I dl'd Firefox and it seems to work fine but I'd rather use Avant.
I've tried a re-install with no luck. ANy ideas?
Thanks

Hello Ray,

If you're running System Restore see if you can restore back to a point just prior to this problem.

Then take Torpedo's advice and scan your system for malware: use the online scanners linked from here http://www.windowsbbs.com/links.php and if you don't have SpyBot, Ad-Aware and Ms Anti-Spyware, download, install and immediately update them before scanning. Whether or not malware caused this problem, a good idea anyway.

Regards - Charles

Hello sazabi,

i think win2k look like have not System Restore
You're right about that, only WinMe and XP have System Restore.

I assumed, perhaps wrongly, that Ray is running XP.

After reading the original post ( AGAIN ) and if it were other than Win2K, I would say that the problem may well be Windows Explorer rather than Internet Explorer.

I agree. It sure can not hurt.

Hi BB,

Ray seem to be running XP and perhaps you're right about it being an explorer problem judging from this post: Files disappearing

FIRST problem to be settled before anyone can really help.

WHICH OS is being used.

The other thread says XP

This one mentions 2K. At least I believe that is what the Quote below says.

Billy Bob, sazabi is not the original poster, confused me for while as well.

I'm assuming that its someone - a non english speaker - with a problem that wanted to use SR and found out WK2 doesn't have it.

Good Grief.

I did not notice that. It does make a difference.

By getting that straightend out I do lean more toward a Windows Explorer problem.

Thanks charlesvar
