When I click on many internet sites that have video my media player connects, buffers and then I get just the sound and no video. I have a cable modem and use the 300K setting. I tried the 100K and 56 K as well but to no avail. Some sites I get the video and sound but some I get only sound. For example Sports Illustrated and those linked from MSN I get only sound. Can anyone make a suggestion? The only thing I can think of is file associations but then it wouldn't open at all would it? I am running windows media player 9 and Win2000 Pro. I'm alllllll confused!

Problem still there - here is example

I have Quicktime installed and updated it. Same result.

Latest instance was I went to the link below to see the campain ad that has stirred up so much controversy today. All I get is sound and it's a wmv file.

    http://humaneventsonline.com.edgesuite.net/unfit_video_wmv.html

Should I go to file associations and try something other than WinMedia 9 for WMV files?

    Thanks,
    Jim

    Hello Herd72.
The link played for me and I'm running Windows Media Player. Have you checked for updates? Open Media Player> click help> check for up dates. Also check Tools> Options> Files types.

    Thanks for the reply

In file types I have WMV set to open and play with Widows Media Player 9 but all I get is sound sometimes. Other WMV files I get video and audio. The same is true for AVI, etc. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
I will do the updates though.

    Jim

    I got it!

I changed the file types in Media Player - AIFF was not ticked and then changed the connection speed to faster and it works now! Thanks!
