Internet Explorer Popup Ads.

Just recently when I open Internet Explorer 6 a couple of popup ads open as well.If I run AdAware 6 though afterwards I cannot open any links without getting that annoying 'White Refresh' screen a couple of times before it finally opens the link.
When I run the 'sfc /scannow' command and replace dll files the links all work perfectly again albeit the popup ads are back. It's not a huge problem just annoying.
Anyone got any ideas?

bluenose12--
Are you saying that AdAware found nothing?
Why did you think you had .dll file problems?
If Refresh eventually opened the page, it could just be a slow server somewhere. Popups can, indeed, delay/impede opening a page.
Not being able to open a page at all is more serious.

However, I feel that your real problem may be the popups and their source. Like spyware and/or Messenger Service.
Of course there are PopUp Stoppers.

Several are free and I know POWI and the one from webattack are OK. You may get other recommendations.
But using a popup stopper does not get at the source.
Who are the popup ads from? (Also right click on a blank spot in the ad, then click Properties to see who is actually sending the ad to you.)
What version of Windows are you running?

what are the adds,or where are they from.

Maybe time to also get SpyBot S&D
I and many others here use both adaware and spybot

My System

The latest Google tool bar has a very effective popup stopper - and is so handy, too.

Thanks to ALL for your help and suggestions.I do have a popup stopper in my Nortons Firewall, the only problem with that though is when it's on sometimes you can't download files from sites.I have to turn the blocker off again to download. As I said it's not a big problem ,just annoying.
I will give the google toolbar a try.
Thanks again

POPUPS

Insread of turning your popup blocker off when you want to download try keeping the control key depressed prior to attempting the download. This may override the blocker.
