I have a problem when I start internet explorer. I get pop-ups from this company and also some of the text on my pages are highlighted by them to send me to one of thier advertisers. It is constantly creating an error and shutting down explorer. I am running xp and don't know if reloading explorer will solve this or how to reload just explorer. Please help. Dave

    Hi Davesd33

I'll start this out then someone with XP experiance will step In :)

    odyssey marketing
did it come from some shareware program ? what ?
If so most are smart unough to know when its sponcer is turned off then wont let you use the program ..

Get SpyBot download (free)--install update it , good idea to restart PC
    then scan youre PC
    http://security.kolla.de/index.php?lang=en&page=download

get AdaWare also (has a free version)
    http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/

I use both --always use spybot first

    Dave,

I agree with Lonny as a first step - this is 'standard practice' for any strange goings on.

    Four suggestions -

    Clear out Temporary Internet Files

Look in Cookies folder and delete any which refer to odyssey

Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and scroll down to Security and tick ' Empty Temporary Internet Files ......'

Start > Run > Regedit - search for 'odyssey' - without the quotes. Back up any references to same and then delete.

A re-install/repair of IE is unlikely to clear the problem - IMOP

And five - get a decent firewall - XP firewall is only one way (out?) and fairly pathetic. Zone Alarm Pro will block pop up ads amongst other things- there are others of course.

Adblocker comes to mind - do a Google search.

IeSpyad - again search Google - adds a host of sites to IE blocked list.

    Happy Hunting :D
