Delete email from OE Inbox

We have a PC which on 4 Dec 2002 received an email from someone/thing called larsrt. Whenever this mail is highlighted a box pops up asking if we want to open this file or save it. (This box also contains lbf308xc7807). Of course we want to do neither, so we exit this box. Then we are told the machine has done someting illegal and the OE closes down. In other words we cannot delete this mail.

How is it possible to delete a mail in the inbox without highlighting it fist

Regards
Tore

Good chance your going to have to seek out and destroy INBOX.dbx which will wipe out ALL inbox items. FIRST, drag all the inbox items you want to keep to another folder.

OR you can wait and see if someone else has an idea.

"seek out and destroy" sounds military. What EXACTLY does a non-computer expert do, and how do we reinstate this INBOX.dbx afterwards?

Tore

(PS: I see I figure as "intermediate" in computer experience. I should obviously be "beginner", or "pre-beginner". I have to change it, and maybe posted replies will be more descriptive......)

Click on Start->Search/find and search for inbox.dbx ->right click and delete.

**** Note that all the mail in the inbox will be deleted. ***

The file will be recreated next time a new mail arrives.

Do you have your preview pane turned on? If so, go to view, layout, and "uncheck preview pane". Now see if you can delete it. Having the preview pane open, you are actually opening it when you highlight it.
