Looking for Information Regarding MSIMNUI.DLL

The Desktop Tools features which came with my HP 1100 AXi printer/ scanner are supposed to allow one to link the scanner output directly to an email program (scan, launch email, attach & send in one easy operation).

However...when trying to create the software link between the HP Software and Outlook Express (using the HP Toolbox software), at the final Wizard step, I get the HP error message stating that the HP software cannot find MSIMNUI.DLL.

Well, no doubt, because it doesn't exist on my computer. Does anyone know if this is an Outlook Express native .DLL file or would it be something that HP should have provided? HP support on this is Nada, Zip, Zilch.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm running OE6 on a Win98 system. OE is working just fine (for OE).

Looks like there may be the solution here somewhere! I had a sense it might be an old file reference.

Also thanks for the heads up to the HP Help Forum. There isn't a whisper about it in the HP Printer Support pages.

I know better that to start on this at 1 AM, but I will post back when I attempt the fix.

Outlook Express / HP 1100 Scanner Link Problem Solved

I finally explored the work-around you ID'd from the HP support site regarding the problem I outlined linking the HP 1100 AXi scanner to Outlook Express.

The HP bb posted solution outlined by Melanie and clarified by T.A. Rizzo fixed the linking problem just fine. (In Summary - find msoe.dll, copy it, rename the copy msimnui.dll and put it into the same folder where you found msoe.dll (probably in c:\program files\outlookexpress).

The HP app now finds the file it likes and all is well with the world.
