I've got a dozen or so internet shortcuts on my desktop but they all open in about 1/2 size only and I have to click on the full screen box in the top right each time to put them in full screen.

The shortcut Properties (I use IE11) does not have an option for opening in full screen like in the old IE8.
I tried all the old XP tricks such as holding down CNTL when clicking on a full screen "X" to close as well as dragging the corners to full screen and then trying various exit commands.

What do I need to do to have them all open in full screen?

Hi robls99, I found a suggested cure on Google. It needs editing the Registry.

regedit > HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main and locate FullScreen entry it should be "no ", you can swich it to "yes ".

The usual warning - I won't be responsible for any errors that may occur - I have no need to do this on my W7 HD. Neil.

I used to view web pages in full screen (dragged them by the corner so they would stay that way) on XP with a CRT monitor, but I find I don't have to view a full page with my new wide screen monitor. I just drag the page by the corner to the desired width, and it always remembers that setting. Just don't let the browser page touch the top of the tray in Windows 7 or the setting may not stick - at least I remember reading as much a few months back.

In addition, it is always a good idea to reboot a computer when aesthetic changes are made so they will stick in case you are forced to do a hard boot that could make the computer forget those settings.

Mine is set to "no" too, Neil.

I've used IEMaximiser for various iterations of Internet Explorer and it works just fine in IE11 on 7.

    Thanks guys,

Unfortunately my version of Win7 Pro under the registry submenu Main per above only shows:

    Default Feeds
    Window Search

and I don't see anything like "Full Screen "

Pete, when IEMaximizer maximizes a window do you still see the 3 little boxes at the top right (ie Minimized, Close etc) or is it like F11 where those boxes are not shown.

All I'm looking for is the "normal" maximizing where the 3 boxes still show.

Hi robls99, Did you left click on the word MAIN?
If you clicked on the arrow head - you only expand and see Default feeds and Windows Search below it.
I'm suggesting you try it as I see Pete's link has PayPal attached. Neil.

    Pete,

    IE Maximizer works pretty slick.

The 3 top right boxes I mentioned first do show but then they quickly move up out of view. I can bring the boxes back by placing the cursor at the upper border (it takes a couple of seconds) or by pressing F11.

    Thanks a lot

    retiredlearner,

Duh! You're right, clicking on Main does help. Full Screen is marked Yes but since I already loaded IEMaximizer, that could have changed it too.

    I'll try the registry way on my wife's Win7 as soon as she gets it (shortly);

    I really appreciate everyone's help. You're all a great bunch/resource!!

PS: The PayPal mention on IEMaximizer is only for donations since it is freeware.

Thanks for your reply. It would be interesting to know whether IEMaximise changed the Registry from NO to YES.
I'm always wary of Freeware as you never know what might be piggybacking. Neil.

    IT WORKS - sort of........

Changing the registry entry for Main/FullScreen Entry from No to Yes per above does make everything open in Full screen but REALLY full. By that I mean that immediately after opening in full, the top title/url line rolls UP off the screen which is Fuller than the usual Maximize button (all 3 Minimize/Maximize/Close buttons are off the screen too).

You can get this title bar back down by resting your cursor on the top right corner but it is awkward to always get it just in the right spot to trigger the roll down. Out of frustration you can also push F11 toggle which moves it back to half screen which you can likewise use for full vs half without changing the registry.
Or, of course you can also do a Cntl+F to get the file menu to exit.

I'm not sure that I like the frustration of not easily seeing that top line and the tediousness of bringing it back but I'll try it (or other suggestions) out some more before deciding.
