Resolved Flash player not working

I am having a problem with Flash Player in IE 10. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and IE 10. I have the current version of FP from Adobe website. If I go to Adobe site it shows that the version is the latest and it plays in their window. However, any other site that requires FP says FP is not detected and directs me to the Adobe site to d/l FP.
I have done a clean install using the add/remove programs, then the FP uninstaller, and deleted the following files:
C:\Windows\system32\Macromed\Flash
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
%appdata%\Adobe\Flash Player
%appdata%\Macromedia\Flash Player
Also deleting any registry entries for FP. Uninstall reboot and then reinstall, reboot and go to site and says I need FP. I uninstalled IE 10 and reverted back to IE 9 thinking this might be the problem but same problem exists. I went into internet options/advanced and set default settings. I have done the above 3 times and still site says no FP. (Facebook). ALL windows updates are current. I have googled and searched this site for a solution and cannot find one. Any suggestions to get FP to work in IE 10?

 

Joyce, have you tried Secunia PSI? It detects outdated software (especially Flash), and it will download the latest update, and the best part about it is that Secunia removes any outdated (zombie) files, too...

Give Secunia some time to update and remove any outdated files. The program may appear to be stagnant at times, but it is not.

Updating Flash can be one of the more troublesome programs to deal with at times. I know, I've had problems similar to yours before. Even as late as of yesterday, I had to resort to Patch My PC to get Flash up to date.

One or both of these programs should help.

 

OK I'm at my wits end. I ran both of the programs you suggested. The Secunia found my Adobe Master CS3 was out of date and since Adobe is no longer providing updates to this I uninstalled it and cleaned out the registry and all files/folders. Then I AGAIN uninstalled/deleted ALL files for Flash including regedit. I again d/led "Adobe" Flash however, in my add-ons it shows as Shockwave Flash Object publisher is Adobe and it is enabled. But still I cannot view pages that require Flash Player, as it gives me the "No Flash Player Found ", even Adobe site says I need to install Flash Player but when I try to it goes through the installer and then says it is already installed. In add/remove programs I have Adobe Flash Player 11 Active X and Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin. So now what???? I also ran SFC just in case and it found no problems. I had "PatchMyPC" reinstall Flash and still something is wrong. Could it be that in my addons it is showing as Shockwave Flash Object instead of Adobe Flash Player Active X? Is there a way to delete sites in Flash? Nevermind, it shows in my Control Panel and there is an option to delete the sites, so will try that. Not expecting any miracles!

 

Other than to try Firefox, I don't know what to suggest. If my Flash problems were that bad, I would try a system restore, or maybe even a reinstall of Windows 7.

Maybe someone with more Windows 7 / IE 10 experience can help you here.

 

System Restore WILL NOT fix that problem.

 

I'm curious, I thought System Restore would roll back the computer (including IE) to a previous condition / state.

The latest Shockwave is 12.0.4.144

I have those and yes I paid attention to the added software and declined. But I'm going to call this resolved because I don't think it is my computer. Now flash player works in adobe and in cnet, but not in facebook game apps. But if I go to the game creator site the game works. So I'm calling this a problem with FB.

Many have posted multiple times what System Restore Will do and what System Restore Won't Do but this advice is often ignored because at least once a week somebody will post saying they used System Restore for something and it didn't work, they went back weeks to get a "good" restore point or they used System Restore and now they can't use a program, can't find a program or parts of a program are missing. Or somebody else has advised the use of System Restore for something that it is not designed to do.
Because of this I felt compelled to create this thread in hopes that everybody will read it BEFORE using System Restore.
System Restore is not the "end all and be all" for fixing something as many people seem to think.

System Restore is meant to restore from very RECENT changes like just day or two, not weeks. System Restore only keeps the points for a short time, depending on how much disk space you have allotted for it. Once that space is filled up then old points are deleted. I keep my System Restore very small, gives me more disk space and also that way I don't have weeks and weeks of old restore points. I wouldn't want them anyway.

I tend to agree about the time span. I don't like to use system restore points over a month old, and most of my restore operations are from SR points made 7 days ago or less.

 

To me, anything over 5% is a waste. I have never used System Restore. Best thing to do is to find an answer to the problem. SR can cause more problems than you had to start with. Seen to many horror stories.
This is just MY opinion and a few other people that I know that are way more computer savy than I am. Especially when it comes to using SR when you have a Virus or Spyware/Malware problem.

 

What about the ERUNT utility? Not sure if it works well with Windows 7, but I use it in conjunction with System Restore on XP.

I use system restore to get rid of registry entries of a program I installed & then uninstalled. I understand the consequences of using system restore, all my data is backup by Good Sync and all my install files are on another drive. When you download a program you thought was malware/bloatware free, sometimes the easiest thing to do is do SR, at least that works for me, then I just reinstall any programs that were affected by SR.
