how to fix IE8 msg "running without add-ons"

    Recovering from a motherboard failure. IE 8 gives header message

    "IE is currently running with add-ons disabled. Click here to manage, disable, or remove add-ons "

    Clicking on the message just gives me a list of add-ons just shows a list of plug ins enabled like Java and Adobe reader.

    what else do I need, and how to get rid of the annoying msg?

    Hi pilotgal8. What happens when you click on Start< Run and type iexplore.exe and hit enter? Does IE8 open normally without showing the running without add-ons message?

    What version of Windows is the computer using?

    Evan thank you for your question, but I discovered that it was probably a virus, so move the question to that session.
