Trying to help a friend out of a situation caused by her DSL provider. While trying to get her DSL working they had her install & reinstall the modem & the network adapters a number of times & remove IE.

When she called me, every app would abend in the kernel of Win98. We removed the 3 extraneous modems & network adapters & now the programs do not abend & she's been able to backup her data files.

HOWEVER, she has no IE. We tried to execute the IE6setup module found on her harddrive, but it choked part way through the install & can't get to the web to download other components.

Any way I can download a full IE install set onto a CD & take to her to repair this.

Thanks in advacne for your assistance.

Or you can just reinstall Windows on her machine, using her Windows CD, which will install some version of IE. Then she can use that to go to the Windows update site to get the latest version....that's assuming her DSL connection is finally working.

They had her uninstall IE, huh? Tell her not to call those morons anymore. If they don't know enough to know that IE is such an integral part of newer versions of Windows that major problems are usually the result if IE is uninstalled, they sure don't need to be trusted on anything else.

Oh, geeze (*slaps forehead here*)...thanks, Someolboy. For some reason, I never do remember about SFC.
