    I'm having trouble with windows opening in small size in XP with IE8. After I reduce the size of a window to do something, every stinking window I open after that is in the same small size. Frustrating in the extreme.

    Thanks for any help.

    It should, but doesn't. I have searched online for a remedy and found some people have software for this. I thought it might be in "tools/internet options" but can't find anything there.

    Try pressing ctrl when closing IE (with your preferred windows size).

    But as a doctor would say when asked, it hurts when I do this...

    He would answer, don't do it then. Try to minimize the window if your require desktop real estate, dont shrink it to a small size.

    I shall try all these tips. Think is, the occasion sometimes arises when I want to shrink some windows, not often but occasionally. Hmmmmm

    @neophyte,

    Sorry I've been used to dual monitors for decades (some members will remember when monochrome graphic RAM didn't share memory with CGA). Even now though it is a different scenario I've became accustomed to just dragging a window to my secondary (sometimes tertiary) monitor, but leaving some of it on the primary.

    This tactic works even if you only have one monitor, Minimize or drag is my preferred option, I'm not saying the doctor is wrong though.

    You might also give this a try. I don't think I saw this one in any of the previous suggestions.

    Go to the Icon where you open IE and right click to get a context menu and select "Properties ". Click on the "Shortcut" tab. At the "Run" option, select "Maximized ". Then click on "Apply" at the bottom right and then "OK ". Close out the context menu and give IE another try.

    Meaning I am grateful for the help. I am expressing my gratitude for the people who have taken time to assist me. It was considerate of them. You know, the usual meaning for thank you.
