Homebuilt computer with XP, had power supply failure. Today installed new power supply and the computer is running fine. Now having problems with Dell flat screen monitor. when computer boots up , white light on, this is normal, Dell logo comes on then it switches to power saving mode, orange light comes on and the display goes black. You can press the orange light and it will start the cycle with Dell logo to power save mode again. Any advice from anyone will be appreciated.

OK. Did you try to start tapping of F8 key while your computer is starting, to see, if you can get to some more options?

Implying that initially the computer booted up as expected?
That suggests to me that the computer is not actually booting and as the monitor is not receiving a video signal it goes immediately to standby mode.

Is there any evidence that the computer has actualy booted up - does the hard drive light show during the boot sequence for a significant period of time - not just a brief flash? Do the optical drive lights show on boot?

Remove and replace all the power supply connections to the motherboard and drives - check all the ribbon cable connections too.

It is possible that in fitting the new power supply either some connections were not properly made or were loose or you accidentally dislodged some other connection.

Please read what you intend to post before posting - your last post is barely understandable.

If it freezes in AOL consider reinstalling AOL - I distance myself from that provider :)

    Sorry, but .....
There is a spell checker available - click the abc/tick icon top right of the message box or use the one in Google Toolbar.

If using IE, consider getting IE7Pro (which supports IE8 too). I could not live without this plug-in for one main reason, the real-time spell checker which checks spelling as you type. This is essential for those of us inflicted with QCR (quinquagenarian cranial flatulence) or its more advanced (declining?) stages. ;)
