ASUS Motherboard and Max HD size

Is this ASUS motherboard capable of using more than 137G EIDE HD? The only numbers I can find are:
AS99127F
ASUSTEK 1998
112G1AA210510602
WINBOND '98
ASUS has not answered my email. I would like to add a 500G EIDE to my 30G HD, but I do not want to buy it if all I can use is 137G. I know I can buy a new PCI CARD, but I am not certain how to install it. Thank you.

AS99127F is a sensor chip - what is the motherboard model> Download SIW and look under Hardware > Motherboard.

Then we can proceed.

I can't be definitive re the max hard drive size as no BIOS details are given. Certainly you require XP SP1 at least .....

How to enable 48-bit Logical Block Addressing support for ATAPI disk drives in Windows XP
Quote:
Your computer must meet the following requirements to use 48-bit LBA ATAPI support:
48-bit LBA-compatible BIOS.
137-GB hard disk or larger.
You must have Windows XP SP1 installed.
Check out the BIOS for a setting for 48 bit LBA (Large Block Addressing)

supports Enhanced Disk Drive specification
According to this ......
Quote:
All Enhanced BIOS’s support drives that are
greater than 528 MB. Enhanced BIOS’s can
optionally support the following:
· PIO Mode 3 or greater
· DMA Mode 1 or greater
Your BIOS is 2001, the date of the article is 1995, things have probably moved on from there

However I'm not going to put my head on the block here and say yay or nay - my feeling is nay.

Look out for some further responses.

The first and second are both correct. They are from different locations. The original, from Control Panel>System>General was paraphrased. The verbatim is: Intel Pentium III processor. 870MHz, 512MB of RAM.

The second is from SIW.

More helpful than 'x86 Family 6 Model 8 Stepping 10 GenuineIntel ~870 Mhz' which is rather generic
