Unhappy XP can't see external hard drive

Recently our motherboard went so had to buy a new tower. The hard drive on the old computer was still OK. We bought an external caddy for it. However it turns out that all our files were password protected. We then found a friend with a Mac who managed to bypass this and downloaded our data onto a Fujitsu removable back up disk. When you look at the list of hardware installed it shows up and says that this device is working properly however we cant find it anywhere on the computer to access it. This has been driving us nuts for a couple of days now. Can anyone help or offer any advice???

Look in Disk Management, i.e. go to Start > Run, type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter. Right-click the ‘missing’ drive graphic icon and allocate a drive letter near the end of the alphabet.
