Quick poll to see what's the most common CPU right now.

This is a multi-choice poll, so if you have different hardware running different CPU's, you can choose multiple CPU's.

Here's a handy utility to find out which CPU you have: CPUID.

Rockster, they are workhorses though ;)

Usually I'm too lazy to sit at the desk and the laptop (also a PIII) is a godsend for lounging on the sofa :)

TBH I probably use this dinosaur more than the desktops in the home and it always comes in handy when on the road and borked computers need that kick up the @$$ with a little TLC and internet access to come back to life. :D

Core 2 Duo here. I just got a new PC last summer (its 2009, remember?) Didnt feel I needed a Quad Core, have used AMD's for so long I figured it was about time I tried Intel.

I am running a Pentium 4 1.5 GHz on my Vista system. The processor is a bit old but my computer is still pretty fast thanks to all the tweaks I have done on my OS.

    Hold the phone.
My Athlon 64 (3200+) is listed, but I'll bet it's slower than your chip!

And Arie, why not just have members check their systems properties tab?
I'd think that would be easier, no?

Centrino is a technology which also encompasses a mobile chipset and integrated wireless LAN capability. As for the processor, most likely you have a Pentium M or Core 2 Duo. Check with CPUID

    A real laundry list

My list of machines is at the bottom, in my signature box. I didn't count the Pentium 4 machine, because I don't have it connected to my network and it's not even connected to the Internet.

I'm seriously considering a Core i7 build in the near future for video encoding and media editing. If I still can't get rid of that Pentium 4 machine, does that mean I might need professional help?

I've been thinking about this since the poll began but since its soon coming to a close, I figured its now or never in terms of speaking up. One of the processors I listed has captured (actually tied) the lowest share in the poll, however, I have 3 machines with an FX CPU but could only indicate one.

    ;)
