How would I know the com port is not actually enabled?

hi
the com port is not working ,
In device manager ,in Communication port properties it says
enabled and working ....
is there anyother way to know if the COM port is actually enable?

My System

Thru BIOS/CMOS.

Get into your computer BIOS & look around for COM port. There you would get all the information including IRQ.

System Information>Hardware Resources will give you status of the Com port(s) under both I/O and IRQs

My System

You can click Start>Run and type msinfo32 then hit Enter.
It is also available via Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information
