Problem with imaging devices in device manager

My problem is this I have 3 different imaging devices installed on the system 1. is a Logitech webcam via USB 2. is a Multifunction Brother DCP-150C scanner/printer via USB 3. JVC GR-D50 digital video camera via Firewire pci card.
A short time ago the computer had a virus/trojan which did a little damage to a few files and as a result i had to repair/install xp over the top. This was done and after reinstalling a few other files and updating Xp to service pack 3 again all is good except for this.
"Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)"
All 3 imaging devices are showing the same error with a yellow exclamation mark
All the drivers load for the devices and they are seen in windows device manager but all yellow ! mark I have tried uninstalling and re installing ,I tried different usb ports as well and have moved the fire wire card to a different pci slot. The multifunction printer/scanner only shows an error on the imaging it reads cards and prints as normal.
I can only think that some uninstll has left something behind thats preventing windows from "seeing the device" but thats just an assumption.
Now I have run out of what to try next and beg you to help me solve this.
hope I have provided enough for some one to recognise what may be the problem.
There are no other issues or problems evident in windows device manager and no conflicts showing.and I stress that all the item used to work without a problem
system is
winXP service pack 3
pentium 4 3GHz
1.5gb ram
asus P4s800 mother board
Ati raedon graphics card
all drivers are up to date
although the system bios is original (i dont like updating bios )unless i have to

thanks in advance
Bruce.

Many USB devices require drivers to be installed before pluging in the device. Try uninstalling drivers and unplugging devices. Then reinstall drivers and plugging devices back in. You might also try reinstalling USB controller drivers.

I have the exact same problem. ALL of my imaging devices have he exclamation beside them.

I believe this is an SP3 issue. I will be downgrading to confirm.

I have done this also installed before plugging in device its not the USB port as the printer and other usb devices are not affected also the jvc camera is on firewire not USB
Thanks though I appreciate the efforts.

I am not so certain its an sp3 issue .I am thinking it more left over drivers or something previous installs.
BUT let me know if the roll back works.
thanks
