Printing on both sides of paper with laser

When I had an inkjet, I read that you should not print on both sides of the page, b/c running already-printed paper through the printer would get ink on the rollers (well that's as best as I can remember the warning).

I have a laser now, and I'm wondering if the same holds true for lasers.

Is it ok to print on both sides, sending already-printed paper through again?

I've done it occasional with inkjets, but by the time I got it ready for a second pass (never owned a duplex printer), ink was dry. In business I had a couple of lengthy reports I printed out bi-weekly on laser, 8.5x14 landscape with never an issue. You may need to increase your paper weight/quality to minimize shadow through ... but this caused by light, not ink bleeding through the paper or improper toner transfer.

Thanks for the reply, Dennis. I forgot that I have a pdf of the owner's manual, and it gave directions on how to do this, but then said that doing this can make the printer dirty, and gave directions on cleaning it. I think I'll just print two papers on a single side.

In duplex printing via laser, there is a slight possibility of some unfused toner getting on the rollers. But unless you are doing a massive amount of printing I don't see this being a big issue for you.

As Dennis said, you should go to a good quality paper.
