I have had graphics overheating problems owing to drivers.
I suggest you find updated chipset drivers for the motherboard. [Was there only one listing for nVidia in Add/Remove Programs, be careful that you don't uninstall the nVidia chipset drivers if you have an nVidia chipset, there are called nForce drivers].
If you downloaded the graphics drivers, I suggest you uninstall those again (try uninstalling in Safe Mode) and reinstalling the drivers from drivers CD that came with the card.
If original graphics drivers don't seem to have problems, I don't update them. If I do, I update only by a few version releases.
