Lexmark Z1300m printer driver

I purchased a Lexmark Z1300 printer. While trying to install it tells me that it is not compatible with win 98. I emailed lexmark support and there response was
"Lexmark no longer is authorized to reproduce or distribute any Lexmark drivers that include Windows 98/Me USB functionality. Lexmark has removed Microsoft Windows 98/Me USB files from our currently distributed CDs as well as all web packages for Windows 98 and ME. This means that Lexmark is no longer able to provide Windows 98/Me USB functionality in any drivers for existing products. You may still retain the right to use/reload any driver CD or web package obtained previously. "
This tells me that there probably is a driver, but I am on my own to find it.
Does anyone have or know where I can find the driver?

My System

Googling ......

http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...+98+%2b+Driver

brings up a stream of hits of requests for Win 98 drivers, but not a driver to be seen. I rather doubt that there was ever a driver for Win 98 - their email is more generic than specific. If there had been a driver available it would most certainly be on one of the driver websites.

All the reviews found by Google are dated 2007 - that's 7 years after XP was released which rather supports the implication that W98 was never supported as it was long defunct at that time.

It looks like you are out of luck

You can try at : Driver Guide need to register first though free.
there is a driver listed under "All Lexmark Printers Plotters......"
and was uploaded in April 2000 for Win 95 and 98 worth a try.

Smile

Thanks hawk22,
I have tried a number of these "generic" drivers and the problem I keep running into is on the install I am not given the option of a USB port. Just the usual LPT, COMM1..ect.
I was able to print what I needed on a friends printer.
Rant...I built this PC in 2000. It was pretty much state of the art back then with the exception that I installed 98. In eight years I have had to replace the PS and upgraded the video bd. I am not a "power user" or gamer. Do not download music or movies. I am on the internet at least 4 hours a day. Ebay, sweepstakes, email ect.
Now..Bill Gates tells me that I am forced to buy a new operating system if I want to print a page. I would like to get out of the stone age in May, but I am going to take a serious look at Mac. I have been dealing with windows issues for 12 plus years. Just start fresh...in a new arena.
FYI For anyone that remembers me..I retired in 2004 at the ripe ol age of 49. They hit oil on my land in east Texas. I am so happy to not have to deal with an office network and users. It has been quite a pleasure being a user and not having to fix everything. Sound like burn out..yep!
Thanks for all ya'lls help

thought about updating to Windows 2000 would not cost much easy upgrade.
Drivers are here for 2000.

That's a thought. I'll look into it!
Right now I'm getting ready to go to Best Buy. I have a job as a "Mystery Shopper". I am suppose to be interested in a new laptop with Vista and a HD TV. This is my first assignment with this marketing company I signed up with online. Sounds like fun. Get paid to shop for electronics. Would like a new laptop. Gave mine to my daughter a couple of years ago.
