Hi there, I stumbled across this board trying to find support with an issue that has been recurring on a seemingly random pattern, since this morning.

As the thread topic states, I'm getting random BSOD's - I'd give you more information on what exactly they're about if they didn't force my computer to shut down immediately (within 2 seconds) after they occur. All I was able to spot was the line describing the error issue starting with IRQ?_???_.... etc.
After the first reboot I didn't think much of it, thinking it was just a random single occurrence, however, about 20 minutes later (by this point I had fired up a video game), I was forced out of that game after about 5 minutes of gameplay stating a memory leak error or something along those lines. This happened after another BSOD/reboot again, with a different error however. (will attach both of the game debuggers' dumps)

Bear in mind - this BSOD/reboot thing tends to happen most frequently while running that game (World of Warcraft), but has occured on a cold reset box without having run WoW since the reboot, just running iTunes/WMP/Firefox (or any combination of the above). What this is making me think is that there may be an issue in a later segment of a RAM chip and it doesn't cause a problem until the RAM fills up to a point where that segment gets accessed?

Also, I'd post the windows dumps but I'm getting CRC errors trying to use the files linked in your "how to post a dump log" thread (debugwiz.exe and the windows dbg_x86_6.6.07.5.exe are both causing problems.)

Furthermore, I did already run a full SpyBot and Ad-Aware scan and it came up with nothing alarming.

On a side-note: I travelled with my computer (which is a desktop) last night, 10 hour trip, and even though I'm pretty certain it shouldn't have taken a hit, there's still a minute possibility of it having gotten just that little bit too shaken up, I guess - which leads me to believe that this issue is possibly hardware related, either HD, RAM, or CPU, is what I'm guessing. It'd just be great to find out which one it is so I can replace it.

I haven't had this type of issue yet (Bluescreens / those WoW errors), so I'm almost certain it's somehow linked to the travel. I have however had the odd random restart before, which I figured may have been linked to CPU overheating or whatnot, but in view of the current issue, it may just have been something dormant that's now really causing problems.

Anyways, the two error logs the WoW debugger is giving me, hoping those might help in finding the source of the error, since apparently the windows dump files hate me.

Log 1 (first non-BSOD crash in WoW)

I also ran a memtest86, which found nothing worrying either. I plan on running a defrag tonight to see if that might alleviate the problem, but just haven't found the time yet to leave the box running for long enough to actually let it defrag in peace, or had it stay up long enough for me to get around to starting a defrag.

I also went right ahead and checked all physical connections within the case, and everything was spot-on. It's not an overheating issue either, the fans are all running fine, temperatures are looking good. It's a self-built system running WinXP, an AMD64 3500+, BG GeForce6600GT OC, 2x512mb Dual-Channel OCZ PC3200 modules, and a Maxtor 200GB SATA drive.

I hope I've supplied enough info for someone to have an idea of what's going on here - your help is much appreciated in advance ;)

ych -Welcome to the Board :)

The first thing you should do is right click My Computer icon > Properties > Advanced > Startup & Recovery > Settings and uncheck System Failure - 'Automatically restart'. The computer will then stay on the blue screen so that you can read the error message.

The second thing to do as you have transported the computer is to open up the case, pull and reseat the cards and memory - clean contacts with a soft pencil eraser and pull and reseat every lead - ribbon cables, power cables, etc. Leave the CPU alone.

While the case is open take the opportunity to dedust it.

If you think it is a problem with the hard drive Start > Run > chkdsk /r > OK and accept to run at next boot. Do note the command syntax - the space is necessary :)

Thanks for the swift response, PeteC!

Anyways, as advised, I ran a drive check, which came up with no problems. I also cleaned out everything as advised, just booted up after all that so I guess I'm going to have to wait to see whether or not the error reproduces itself.

From the above logs, and assuming the HD is fine, would it be safe to assume that RAM might be the issue or could other hardware be causing problems too, if the little cleaning session didn't help out?

As stated before I'm getting CRC errors on the debugwiz.zip file's extracted .exe. The microsoft package, dbg_x86.exe, is giving me the following error: "Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file. "

I have tons of space free on all my drives, and I tried re-downloading both, so I'm kind of at a loss here :/

Are you able to copy the dump log to another computer and run the debug wizard there?

I got debugwiz.exe running, but the microsoft app still wont install .. so thats not really useful either. Ill try to see if I can get the wizard up on another box, but since I'm not at home right now that might pose an issue...

Anyway, I got a look at the bluescreen now, the main error line at the top reads:

    IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

the file that seems to be causing the problem as referenced at the bottom is ntfs.sys - driver issue? HD issue afterall?

edit: could it be an issue with the motherboard itself? like a faulty BUS or whatnot?

edit2: another bluescreen happened while i left hte computer on over night - same error message, different file. this time it was http.sys. what gives?

went out and bought new ram .. and the problem was solved. thanks for the input either way :] (and memtest not picking up the errors is mildly infuriating, as a side note.)

Sorry I was unable to get back to you - packing up the house prior to moving on Monday.

Glad to hear that you resolved the problem :)
I did warn you about memtest :)
