Good Morning all,, okay I put in a new 56X CD-Rom yesterday, the old one just broke,,no errors. The door that opens & slides in/out broke, jammed & would not work anymore. That Cd Rom was a 20X. The new one works fine but when installing it I wasn't able to use new audio cable that came with it. I pluged the end into the back of CD but the other end was to big to plug into the sound card? I just used the old cable that came with my orig. CD Rom. Should that be a problem? The only thing that is happening today is once or twice with a browser window open, OE open, any sound like my "new mail announcement" hung & PC frooze
I wasn't using CD Rom for anything at the time.
Thanks, Paul

Boot into safe mode, go to device manager and double click on system. click the plus next to CDRom and from the drop down menu remove your old CDrom drive and any other reference to CD Rom drives except your current 56X. Reboot. Enjoy......
