My DVD Burner can read cd's and dvds (no auto play) but it cannot burn anything with any program. When I put a blank cd into the drive a little pop up window comes up and says:
"D:/ is not accessible. Incorrect function "
Could it have something to do with the Universal SCSI Controller (not working Code 10)? DVD Burner Pioneer DVR-109 and my mother board Gigabyte Nvidia nForce3 250: either the GA-K8NS Ultra 939 or GA-K8NSNXP-939.
    Thanx,
    Waz

My DVD burner is working kind of ok but when I try burn files onto a blank disc using windows writing wizard it says there is no disc in the drive. Autoplay for data discs games and dvds doesn't work.
btw: It works with burning programs.
    Thanx

AFAIK the built in burning software in XP (Windows writing wizard) does not support writing to DVD.

If you have other burning software installed it is a good idea to turn off the Windows software. BTW having more than one third party burning software installed may cause conflicts too.

Open up My Computer, right click on the DVD-RW > Properties > Recording Tab and uncheck 'Enable Recording on this drive' - or words to that effect.

While you are in Properties check out Autoplay and set up what you want. If it doesn't work run the Autoplay Repair Tool

It's all very technical I fear :) A similar situation to that which existed with video - VHS vs Betamax

Some explanations here and here and here - look under section 4.3
