PS\2 Mouse Entry in Sys Info

I was having trouble with the MS IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 USB\PS\2 Adaptor. It would intermittantly stop functioning while in use. So I Shut down unplugged it from the ps\2 connection then uninstalled it from the device mamager which just left the usb mouse which is working properly. I sent in to System Information clicked on Components\Imput\PointingDevices. The top entry for the ps2 mouse says error but the bottom entry for the usb mouse says ok. I went into Problem devices there was the MS ps\2 mouse and under the Error heading it said this ACPI\PNP0F033\4&286D196D&0. This device is not present, is not working properly, or doesn't have all of its drivers present. Is there any way to clear these entries. The mouse is clearly working properly, and has all of its drivers installed, but, I don't like such entries on my computer.

Hi lj50,

Think you can just go back into device manager and remove the ps3 mouse there. You'll have to reboot, and then if the mouse isn't attached to the computer, the entries should be gone.

Look again in device mgr. and see it it's there too; if you see it, remove it again and be sure to "ok" out (not 'esc' or 'ctrl-F4') so it 'takes' and asks you to reboot.

In w98 it's control panel, system, device mgr.
In XP it's contrl pnl, systm, hardware tab, device mgr.

Just the USB Mouse is listed in Device Manager. Which is what I want and is states it's working properly. How to I get rid of it in System Information's Components\Imput Pointing Device and Problem Devices Lists.

Should happen automatically. Chech it after several reboots, no rush, it (sisinfo) is unimportant.

I've had the same "problem" since I reinstalled Win98se in February. I use a Logitech Trackman Wheel, and it does everything it's supposed to (so the right driver is doing its job), but in Device Mgr the little warning icon is in front of . . .

I just checked Device Manager to be sure I was being accurate, and the little warning icon is gone!!!! There's a + next to "mouse" (that used to be minus so the warning would show), and when I click it there's a mouse-icon and "Logitech-compatible Mouse (PS/2)" next to it. Amazing. Maybe this happened because I had decided to ignore the obviously-inaccurate warning.

Actually, I think it's because I had my power supply changed from 300W (too little) to 450W (50W over recommended). This change has made many strange, inexplicable problems go away.
