printing problem

i am trying to install a hp845c on my laptop running me, i have got as far as installing the software and drivers but when i connect the usb cable it says cannot find the usb port, i goes into device manager down to usb and it says unkown device also there is no usb listing in the printing properties only com1 com2 etc how do i get my printer to usb

My System

Check in the BIOS that USB is enabled for a start.

What is the make/model of your laptop? There may be specific USB controller drivers for it.

If you have a motherboard CD that came with it, check to see if there is anything related to USB. The drivers may not be installed (in which case you will have to "update drivers" or remove the unknown device and install the drivers on reboot).
