Determining what Type of Ram is Installed.

There are many Programs which can be used to determine the ^amount^ of Ram installed, but would anyone know of a Program which will tell me what ^Type^ of Ram is installed in my PC?

Many Thanks.

Backdoor approach ....

Log onto www.crucial.com and go through their memory selector - you will need mobo make and type. If you don't know this Aida32 will give you that info.

Crucial memory selector will at least tell you which RAM is compatible with your mobo - usually

Hi Pete:

Thank you for the info.

Unfortunately, unless I am mistaken, AIDA32 only gives the quantity, not the type.

As to what is compatible, I may buy something which is compatible but does not match what is already installed. eg If I have DDR 2700 installed, I would like to purchase something similar.

Thanks Old Man - Oops Sorry, I mean Dad: (Reminds me of home)

Once again, unless I am mistaken, or have somehow managed to get the wrong file, this does not give the information I require.

I see the RAM in your PC is - 1024 Meg PC2700 DDR

If I had similar equipment, which I could never afford, what I would be interested in determining is the "PC2700" part of this equation.

Thank you again.

On my machine, both of the above utilities provide the Manufacturer and what speed of DDR it is.
PC2100, PC2700, PC3200 etc.
It should be there.
Incidentily, I have two sticks of 512 Megs each.
Each is PC2700 but different manufacturers.
Crucial and Kingston.
Runs great

I think AIDA32, under motherboard>SPD, will tell you; make, model, type, serial number, size, speed, etc.

To Noah:

Thank you for the info, this does give the information I require. I don't know how I missed this section, but I must apologize to Pete, who originally suggested AIDA32.

For Dad, I still don't find it in ^Your^ program but, regardless, the programs you suggested are excellent and I certainly must thank you for drawing my attention to them.

Many Thanks to all.
