Usb 2.0

I have an oldish laptop that doesn't have USB 2, and I need it. As it's a laptop, I cant really upgrade, so I was wondering if it is possible to get PCMCIA, ethernet or some other way of getting USB 2 on it,

any ideas?

Thanks

The only problem with USB 2.0 on an old system may be with the DEVICE. Does the device support USB 2.0 with your OS?

Remember when USB first came out? The last version of Windows 95 supported USB, but relatively few devices supported Windows 95! Essentially, people needed Windows 98!

If you are running XP with Service Pack 1, you may have USB 2.0 already loaded. The driver for USB 2.0 is 5.1.2600.0 Sometimes the device manager lspecifically ists 2.0. Sometimes it doesn't. But further checking as to the DRIVER of the USB hub will be definitive.

If you are running either Windows 98SE or ME, check with the chipset manufacturer. Sometimes they have a USB 2.0 upgrade.

RayH: I have the 5.1.2600.0 driver loaded (this was news to me) in device manager.

Does that mean that the existing USB ports on this machine are now USB 2 enabled?? I don't have any use for them right now, but it would be nice to know that USB 2 was available if I find something to use it.
